Csarda is a Hungarian word meaning ‘inn’ -specifically a country inn. Traditional Hungarian ‘csardas’ are rustic country inns providing hearty food and restful lodging for travelers. Historically, csardas were a favorite hangout for the legedary "betyars" or Robin Hood-like, Hungarian outlaws. Haz is the Hungarian word for 'house' or 'place'.

The Mangalica breed stand apart fundamentally from other swine breeds due to the health benefits they can possess when raised correctly. When pastured and fed a correct amount of mono-unsaturated grain the Mangalica meat and fat has extremely high levels of bio omega 3s and 6s, as well as high levels of oleic acid. Many different products can be made with the Mangalica and chefs are now creating interesting dishes with the pig.

Heritage agriculture and preservation of traditional methods is at the heart of Csarda Haz Farm.

Csarda Haz is a small family farm raising walnuts, Berkshire and Mangalica or Wooly pigs, a rare, heritage breed. Our pigs are raised using solely natural organic practices. Our Mangalica or Wooly pigs are NEVER given any antibiotics or growth hormones.

Hogs are rotated through a series of forage pastures. There they are free to roam and eat various crops such as clovers, grasses and peas. Their feed is a mix composed of organic barley, kelp meal and various herbs. All pigs are corn and soy free. Our pigs are indeed very happy pigs. Watch for yourself videos of our pastured-raised pigs.
